iApp is a technology solution for local publishers to create and establish sustainable businesses

Our story

In 2016 we conceptualised and launched a local community media business. We wanted to create a community hub, a place for local news and information, and a business that would sustain local journalism. Success would be determined by audience engagement, only with great engagement and loyalty could we attract advertising and drive revenue. The solution was a custom designed mobile app supported by a responsive website.

The mobile app proved to be a revelation in audience engagement so we created the iApp platform and now everyone can use the software that has been the foundation for our media business.

How we think

The lifeblood of local media is audience engagement, so everything we do is focused on delivering that for our partners. Audience engagement and loyalty are the key to revenue generation; advertising, subscription, member and supporter.

Tony is a media entrepreneur specialising in business planning, forecasting and structuring. Tony has worked in and launched media businesses across Asia and Oceania holding senior executive roles including CEO and COO. Tony co-founded and launched the iAppNetwork.

Pip O'Regan

Pip is the lead revenue advisor and co-owner of the iAppNetwork. Through her experience in media sales and advertising agencies, Pip brings a laser-like focus on revenue development and the advertiser experience.

Will is the owner and managing director of Orchid providing technical advice and project management for iAppNetwork. Will holds a Batchlor of Business, Accounting and Information Management.

Paul French

Lead developer

Paul is the go-to for all things technical at Orchid. Paul developed the iAppNetwork software and the foundation underpinning the platform. Paul holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Industrial Operations Research.

Michegro Chisholm

Marketing Advisor

Michegro is a marketing director, heading up the Wanaka-based marketing practice MLAB. Through MLAB, she provides strategic marketing advice and direction to the iApp team. Her industry experience spans multinational corporates, SMEs, start-ups and social enterprise; piloting marketing strategies that are fundamental to these businesses’ long term success.
